Yes, V6 is 6 cylinders and V8 is 8 cylinders. Either D4 or D3 is ok, but D4 is "overdrive" and gets you better gas mileage on the highway.

If your car has a V6, it has 6 cylinders. It just means that the cylinders are arranged in a "V" shape. If you have an I-6, the cylinders are arranged in an "I".
The gear D3 is meant for speeds under 45 mph. If you use D4 all the time, it isn't a big deal, it just means it will go over 45 without using high RPM's. I usually use this gear because I forget to shift up when I go fast.

Yes it's V6 and the cylinders are positioned in shape of a V unlike straight 6.
And use D4.

Yes, a V6 denotes an engine with 6 cylinders.
For everyday driving, use D4. For going uphill or downhill, use D3 or D2 (for more power going uphill, and engine braking while going downhill so that you don't need to hit the brakes hard while driving).

The V in V6 is in reference tothe shape of the engine block. Some engines are in a straight configuration, but still have 6 cyenders, like in a large truck (diesel).
