Depends on the screen size. A video that is 720 pixel across will be much larger then one that is 320 pixels across.
Depends on the Frame Rate (how many pictures per second) The more frames, the larger the file
Depends on the quality level.
Ddepends on the compression used.
There is not simple answer to the question.

you should ask your self what sort of quality of avi your looking for..., screen resolution and compression are the deciding factors..
also how are you releasing the file CD, web,video...as these can influence the fore mentioned factors...
for web and fast CD (on slower CD Roms) a screen res of 640 x 480 and a 75% compression rate will give a nice balance of playability and a file size of under 500mb (assuming your source is at full-frames uncompressed)..\
but for slower web up/downloads i would compress roughly 50 to 60% of the source at a resolution of 320 x 440..

An avi file of reasonable quality should be about 20MB to 25MB a minute or about 2 gig for a 90 min film
