There is conversion software on the Internet that will turn MPG and AVI files into the mp4 format required by the Video iPod. I've even converted a DVD into an iPod video.

You have to convert them to the mpeg4 format. You can do this with a Vidora iPod converter that you can download off the internet. To put a DVD on your iPod you have to first rip the DVD to your computer you can find the software for free online. Then just drag the converted file to your iTunes.
