You should speak to a lawyer in your area to make sure of the length of time in your area, but you cannot legally throw the items away or give them away until you have given the owner time to retrieve them.

Your ex is legally entitled to a reasonable amount of time to retrieve the items, and then they can be disposed of. You can also check with your local police department, just tell them it is not an emergency when you call; and they may be able to tell you how much time is allowed for retrieval of belongings.

If you do not want to be alone with your ex when he is picking up his belongings, you can request that a police unit be sent to your location when he is scheduled to pick up his items.

Good luck and have a good day.

Tell him to come get it or you will, curb it. You can not legally sell it or give it away. He could sue you for losses. Make sure you give him ample time to retrieve, and have proof that you did before tossing or donating to good will ect.
I have seen this in court many times.

whatever you want to do with it, it's officiall yours.
Have a yard sale, throw it out on trash day, give it to friends, put an ad in the paper for it all, whatever.
