Dreamgirls the movie and play is loosely based on the Supremes..and Jennifer Holiday was a cast member in the play as Effie White.

Effie White is not a real person

Jennifer Holiday was never in a singing group in real life

Although Jennifer Holiday was considered to be the breakout star of the play back in the 1980's.(she won tony awards) she Never did breakout...ironically Sheryl Lee Ralph(moeshas mom) & Loretta Devine became way more successful with movies, plays, and tv shows...

Just like Jennifer Holliday and all of the hype that surrounded her when the play was released is just like Jennifer Hudson...I dont think she will last long...the real person to watch out for is Anika Noni Rose..the third Dream
