To show America, this is the reason they got kicked off.

Well they shouldn't have to do that or the hokey production numbers either. They have to do something to stretch the show out and since it's live they really have no choice. Besides, isn't that what we all tune in for? All the tears and drama? I was mad that Leslie is gone. She has one of the most original voices ever and she didn't even get a chance to get to the final 12. And they let little no-talents stay. I won't name names, but I think you know who I mean. I think the judges were very shocked last night by the voting, but at this point anything is possible.

I THINK and this is just a guess. I think bc there are talent scouts hanging around and this is their chance to show they can handle a loss and get back on their feet and maintain their confidence and still sing under all the pressure. Cant have a star falling apart every time they dont make top 40.

I think it's just to give them a final chance to shine. Sometimes it seems like that's their best performance, although I don't know how.
I always hope that some agent sees this and gives them a call now that they're done with the show.
It definitely seems cruel, but almost everyone handles it very well.

Sometimes the one who leaves is everyone's second favorite, but they just didn't get enough calls to stay. Someone who has a few votes for first place will stay over someone who is everyone's second favorite. That's why I think they should let us vote someone OFF instead. They won't feel that much worse than they do already!
To me it's a way to hear them again if they were your favorite.

Yeah, it seems like they do that on all shows like this (The X Factor in the UK, You're a Star in Ireland, etc)...My thinking has always been, "ok, if we didn't think they were good enough to move on, why would we want to hear them again?" Doesn't really make much sense, does it?

To add insult to injury, rub salt in the wound, etc...
Also, to let the public see what talent is going home, and make you feel bad that you didn't vote for them.

I totally agree with that, the public kicked them off for a reason, we don't want to see them anymore.
