It's hard to pitch around a switch hitter unless you walk him. Bernie Williams has more post-season hits than any player in history and is LIFETIME 300 batter. He is also a switch hitter. I know all the Yankee haters will love this one!

If your talking about every other switch hitter in the majors right now, then yes, they are overrated. But there's one switch hitter that was better than 99% of ALL hitters- Mickey Mantle.

If their averages don't drop off alot from one side to another then I would rather have a switch hitter.

Switch hitters are very much over-rated, especially those who don't hit left-handed very well. Most of them are better from one side than the other, so switch-hitting doesn't give you a great advantage. But, a guy who doesn't hit great lefty will be hitting from his weak side more often, neutralizing the advantage. I say if you can't hit lefty, just hit righty all the time.

when I was a kid switch-hitters were unheard of
there are a lot of players that took it up just to get a chance to play on a ML Baseball team.As all aspects of the game,it is studied very closely.I think that its a neccessity to be able to switch hit in todays game if you want to play everyday.Unless your Albert Pujols or another slugger that just bats from one side of the plate

switch hitter. the point is about switch hitters is that they can hit with their left hand to places righties normally won't hit to, and can hit with their right hand to places lefties normally won't hit to.
