Since marriage involves STATE-given rights, not allowing marriage between two consensual people is discrimination, pure and simple. I cannot support state-sponsored discrimination. Neither does the Constitution.
Religion and "sin" should have absolutely no say in which citizens should get which STATE-given rights, in a country where church and state are separated. All citizens should get all rights.

If you don't want gays to marry in the Christian church, that's fine, that's the perogative of every religion.
But unless you're totally ANTI-AMERICAN, you have to admit that people in this country have the right to get married in a civil, non-religious ceremony, and that counts as a valid legal marriage. So unless you plan to start spitting on the flag and pooping on the Constitution, you have to respect the separation of church and state, even if you don't particularly care for the idea.
Therefore, you need to consider the gay marriage debate from a LEGAL standpoint, and not a religious standpoint. You would have to argue that homosexuality is a CRIME, not a sin, that it inflicts harm on people in some way. I have yet to see anyone argue this convincingly and in a purely philosphical manner, without resorting to their personal religious beliefs.
So I agree that no religous group can or should be compelled to perform or recognize gay marriages; however, in the interests of civil rights, it should be permitted, and upheld, by state and national law.

Not everyone is a Christian and so you can't force your religious beliefs on everyone. And some people who are Christian don't interpret the Bible the same way that you do and so they don't see anywhere in the Bible "do not let two men who have love for one another be married".Nope, it doesn't say that anywhere in the Bible. It just mentions lust.Never does it say that two men can't love each other or can't marry. That is fundamentalist extremism Christian propaganda that suggests that gays can't marry or that their LOVE is somehow a sin. They use this as a way to focus away from their own sins.

Laws cannot be created out of a few sects of one religion. You need to visit www.religioustolerance.org because you have a completely self-centered view of the world, and that's not healthy. There are at least 45 different religions (not sects - separate religions) practiced in this country. That thing about religious freedom: it's not just for Christians!
Also, you need to learn some matters, sweetie. I don't like to be called queer, and a lot of my brothers and sisters don't either. By the way: If you wear polycotton blends, you are committing a Christian sin. Look it up in Leviticus if you don't believe me!

I don't want to marry. Frankly the striaghts and Christians have ruined marriage. You all treat it like dating. You get married drunk and get divorced as the drop of a hat. You never work through any problems just run to the next relationship.
And what is this prenup? If you had a good marriage there would be no need. Frankly you all have destroyed all faith in marriage.
I want something with more honor, something that really means forever and ever. You can keep your marrige it simply isn't up to par with my lifestyle. I committed to Joe on 5 Sep 92 after three years of dating.......what is your love life like?

It's amazing to me that we're at war and suffocating the globe with industrial and agricultural pollutants, yet so much thought, feeling, time, money, and energy is being devoted to preventing two men or two women from getting married.
People always say, "You can't be gay and a Christian." Hogwash. I know plenty of gay Christians!
I would argue that you can't be judgmental and be a Christian. You can't be rich and be a Christian. You can't be mighty and be a Christian.
The end of civilization will not come as a result of same-sex anything. It'll be because so-called "Christians" have strayed so far off-course from Christ's message of inclusiveness, forgiveness, humility, and generosity. (Liberal values, mind you.)

First of all.......the word Queer isn't nice! Learn some manners! Hell I'm a straight black woman and the reason I don't like derogatory remarks is because if you're calling gay people queers and ****** and all the other nasty names, to me that tells me that you would call me a n!gger in a heartbeat! Therefore, to answer your question.......I live in NJ they've just passed the law here for gay people to be married and I don't have a problem with it because it's none of my damn business just like it's none of yours! If you're a straight man or woman then just stick to what you know and stay out of other peoples business. As long as they're not trying to shag you........why do you care? Go walk a puppy and buy and ice cream cone for God sake! LET IT GO!

Well, sure they should be allowed to! They're all showin love for one another, and the bible's all about lovin one another. Besides, the whole sin bit refers to an old verse put in there to seperate the jews from the greeks. It's not even current, it was removed in the new testament!
