He knew enough to just hit the drums and stay out of the news. While John and Paul got all the play, Ringo just quietly got rich. No one ever tries to assassinate Ringo either, unlike John and George, did anyone try to kill Paul?

No Ringo was the Luckiest Beatle. He was instantly loved for his somewhat awkward looks and good humor. Plus they fired Pete Best after they got a record deal and convinced Ringo to join the band.

There were death threats all the time during the Beatles tours of the USA and they were constantly in danger of being mauled to death if any of those crowds had ever got hold of them.

There was the "Paul Is Dead" controversy of the late 60's were everyone was listening to songs and studying album art for clues that seemed to prove that Paul was dead.

No one tried to assassinate John by the way until one complete loser did. You never know, Paul and Ringo are still in the top most recognized people living and they are constantly watched by the press and fans. I pray they both live long and happy lives.

If you go with I.Q., I think John had the highest IQ out of them all. He had concepts and lived a life that many talk about, but few actually practice.
Ringo is absolutely brilliant as an intellect and an artist. He is my #3 drummer all time behind only Phil Collins and John Bonham. The fact that nearly every single he produced made the top 5 in the charts is just amazing to me.

Okay -- so now we're going to start equating "smart" with being a background figure who wrote no songs and just simply rode on the coat tails of the true producers in the group and cashed in ??
And, another item that makes him "smart" is that he was never out front enough to evoke attention of the lunatics in the world ??

If we are still gauging "smart" by the old rules and standards here-- I have to say a resounding NO
The "smart" within THIS group came in the production of legacy-- long term and chipped in granite legacy--- and this WAS the genius of Lennon and McCartney-----with a close second to these front runners in the person of George Harrison--- quite the innovator and writer in his own rite !!!

John was, by far, the greatest artist, and I'm very glad he took a stand in the tradition of Thoreau, Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. However, I have not seen an IQ test on any of the fab four.
