I saw a virgin mobile pre-paid for $10 in RadioShack.
You can add on as many minutes as you like, and after she's through with it, can literally just throw it away.

If it's only for a month then get a prepaid phone. That way if they decide they still want to use it they can start to add their own minutes. And it's relatively inexpensive.

to go www.craigslist.org and find someone in your area that is selling a pre-paid phone.. that way you can pick it up and have no shipping cost to you
