I think you also meant to mention that the trains travel at the same speed. In that case, you are just looking at solving a right isosceles triange. x^2+x^2=50^2....or 2x^2=2500.....x^2=1250....
x=35.35 kilometers. Since the trains were traveling for two hours, there average speed would be 35.35/2=17.675 km/Hr.

Firstly, a please would help.
You can only answer this if you assume both trains travel at the same speed. Draw the situation and you will have a right angled triangle on which you can do a pythagoras calculation.
(They are very slow trains.)
