Hey there. Leather doesn't come from a plant, it's animal skin. There are many different types of leather or rather different animal skins that are used. For example, pig skin leather, sheep skin leather, etc.

Leather comes from skin of living beings. The leather that we use in everyday life for clothes, shoes and purses etc. comes from cows, calfs, pigs, sheep etc. The exhotic leathers come from snake, crocodile, ostritch, elephant etc.

Can you imagine, these are the very animals that fill our stomachs too during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thanks to all the animals in the world for sacrificing their lives for us.... selfish human biengs.

You can make leather out of cowhide, deerhide, pigskin...even animals such as ostriches or crocodiles can produce a "leatherlike" skin if properly treated by a leather tanner or leather worker. Plants make textiles such as cotton (cotton plant), linen (flax), and hemp (hemp plants) after they have been spun and woven.
