In the eighties lots of children were taken into care when a doctor said they showed signs of abuse by their parents. The methods the doctor used were found to be unreliable and most of the children were returned to their parents but not without suffering the trauma of being taken from their families and put in care.

This was in Cleveland in the UK and the Cleveland Enquiry was as it suggests the official enquiry into what happened.
