Because the audience of fans they cater to is mindless and will follow anything they are told is good. Fall Out Boy is a bunch of posers trying to cover up their power POP music with tattoos and sneering looks when they pose for pictures, trying to look all hard. Don't believe the hype, Fall Out Boy is not a good band. (But that's just my opinion on why they are "popular")

Because they have revived pop punk. Before all most all of the pop punk bands were slowing going out of popularity. Then Fall Out Boy came on the scene and now people are all excited over this sound that they haven't heard before.

My guess is that there is a large number of fairly blank kids that think they are cool because that is what they hear on TV. Why else would they be. It explains Ashlee Simpson getting popular so why not FOB?

Well one reason is because Pete (back up singer) is the "hottest" to the girls and we can understand what they are saying in the lyrics.

Because their lyrics are refreshing
their tunes are catchy
they are fantastic live
pete wentz is seriously hot
and they are just generally fantatical.

they have good lyrics and the tunes are catchy ... not to mention pete ... the lead singer just has the fun hypnotic voice .... there is just no way to describe how awesome they are .... the music is new and fun .... thats the main thing all the music is FUN =)

Well, it's certainly not for their looks! I guess they have that pseudo-punk appeal that attracts the middle school age group.
