While the protection from pregnancy ends immediately, it may take several months to return to normal cycles-for some people as long as six months. If you're trying to get pregnant, you may want to try charting your cycles, to see when ovulation returns and what your cycles are like. You can find out a lot more information about cycle charting from the book Taking Charge of Your Fertilty, or the website fertilityfriend.com

It totally depends on your body. I had a friend that got preggo right after she quit b/c and another friend who took 3 months to get regular again. Sometimes it takes up to 6 months! Keep track of fertility signs, such as cervical mucous and position, and basal body temperature and you'll find out when you've ovulated. from that point, you'll know that you're likely going to get your period in 12-16 days. Good luck! for hints on tracking, check out the link.

You can get pregnant right way, but only if you know when to have intercourse. The issue is that your menstrual cycles might not be regular right away (and may take a long time to regulate). Trying is stressful when it does not happen, so some doctors may say not to expect it right away.
