World government: Never, look at how ineffective and worthless the UN is. Most are too nationalistic to give up their sovereignty to a world body.
World currency: Maybe, we are living in an international economy. It would make a lot of sense to have a world currency, but again nationalism will stand in the way.

The question is WHAT government? If we shop interior the direction we are headed we can probably finally end up with a international governing physique. lots of our flesh pressers have already mentioned they may well be open to debate a international order. Think about it, do you really belive to have billions of people lose their culture like th slaves in America did?
The world would be less boring than today's society we need new cultures we need cultral people and influences not just the same one.

The US dollar is in real danger of being supplanted by the Euro, and while that would be a disaster for the US (thanks cons), it would bring more stability to the rest of the world.
