That you, yourself, are responsible and dependable and able to find your own happiness within yourself and what you do rather than the need for outside influence to make you complete. It means that you are self-reliant in your every day things such as paying your bills, fixing what needs to be fixed, keeping appointments and such and that emotionally you are in a good place and not carrying old hurts around to have someone else fix.
It means that you are worthy and you are enough should anyone else out there decide you are worth taking a chance on but still just as valuable without someone in your life.

My wife was an "independent pesronality type". Basically, she didn't need or want any help from other people. She was very self reliant and took care of situations on her own. If she needed something to get done she took care of all things related to the problem and attacked it. She also was hesitant to take advice, not only from me but from her supervisors. The problem was, however, that sometimes it's nice to be needed and she didn't need me. It's not always a good trait.

Hopefully i understood your question right.... Independent means that you can support yourself fully, all by yourself. financially, you won't need anyone to help you. To complete everyday tasks, you do not necessarily need anyone's help. If it's there, fine, but if it's not, the person who is independent can do without. Same goes for relationships with ur girlfriend/boyfriend.

it means that you should try doing things on your own, like have your own apartment, go to the doctors by yourself and make appointments, pay the bills on your own, work, stuuf like that.
