ive always been obsessed with my stomach before I became pregnant. I would work out all the time and I loved that burning feeling after my work out was over. Now that i am pregnant I can feel my stomach tightening up but it doesnt hurt. Sometimes I think its just the baby pushing outwards. Could it be that because I have been so used to that burning and achiness feeling for so long, I cant feel my contractions now? Im 37 weeks and 1cm dialated, 75% effaced!

It is possible that you wouldn't feel contractions- but not very common. Personally, I can feel sore stomach muscles from the contractions but not the actual contractions. I had an OB once tell me that I have no nerves in my uterus. So, it is possible, just not common. Good luck- have a great delivery.

Yes it is possible, I had the same problem..And called an advice nurse at Kaiser Permanente ONLY to be told it was MY BLADDER muscles weakning from my impending birth BUT I was still 2 mo's out well they continued & I went to emergency & I WAS IN EARLY labor & they had to STOP IT!

All contractions are not HARD ONES because you were in great shape before the birth yours may be lighter than other ..You might be a 1 push deliver or a NO PUSH delivery!

Oh believe me, you'll feel them...no worries there. I was in great shape before I became pregnant with my first, and boy did I feel those contractions when they came.

You will probably just have an easier time getting back into shaped after your baby is born.

Before pregmancy it was the abdominal wall muscles that you were exercising and tightening. When labor begins, it is the uterus muscles that are contracting. Very early labor often isn't felt at all, or very minimally. You should have some discomfort as labor progresses, but if it is minimal, then lucky you!

I've heard this from quite a few people that when they first started dilating they didn't feel themselves contracting. That's when they found out they were like 3 cm dilated. Once you get into active labor, believe me.....you'll feel them! Good luck!

I promise - you WILL feel contractions. They hurt bad and the more you dilate the worse they are and after your water breaks they get worse. You will be begging for medication. I promise you will feel it - there is nothing to even compare to the pain of child birth.
But it is a wonderful experience and so worth it in the end.

You will feel the contractions of active labor, I promise you.

I didnt feel my braxton hicks contractions until about a week or so before labor started. And then they werent painful.

They didnt get painful until about 10 hours into labor. But you WILL feel them, I promise.

When you have Braxton Hicks contractions you may not feel them. The only thing I feel from mine are like someone is squeezing me. No pain. When you get real contractions, you will definitley feel them. No mistaking it.

they are braxton-hicks contractions, not painful; more like your uterus warming up before the big workout. when that begins you will definitely feel them! and by the way--congratulations!
