thinking of training to become a teacher and really need a degree first - live in Hereford uk and closest Uni is worcester

Do you have any a- level or equiv qualifications, if so you can go onto the City and Guilds 7302 (as a step up) then carry onto the C+G 7407 - as this leads onto the Cert Ed (the teaching certificate done in three parts stage 1, 2 and 3).
Even if you dont have any prior qualifications you can take a diagnostic test to establish if you have the skills and knowledge to enter teaching. Enquire with your local college.
All this can be done part time day or evening.

If you don't have a university nearby then Open university is probably your best bet. Even working full time, if you do an arts subject like English or something a lot of your study will just be reading and stuff so you should be able to organise your time pretty well. Lots of students (even on full time courses) also work these days - sometimes nearly full time hours - to pay their way though uni.

Open University for your first degree, followed by a PGCE at your local University.
