I'd have to say it's the egg. The "first chicken" would have hatched from an egg that was lain by something that wasn't a full-fledged chicken. Although, evolution isn't exactly that cut-and-dried... The parent of the first chicken would have been something VERY close to a chicken, just not quite the same. It wasn't like a lizard laid an egg and out popped a chicken.
Creationists could say it was the chicken; that God said "Let there be chickens upon the face of the earth, that man may fry them and make nuggets from their flesh." And lo, there was a great clucking, and the fields were covered with a great multitude of chickens. And the Colonel saw it that it was good - and opened up KFC.
I feel that even in a creation scenario, evolution is just the mechanism by which God's creation was done, so even in a created universe, I feel the egg came first. The Bible isn't a "how god did it" manual, folks.

If you are talking about an actual chicken and an actual egg then neither came first, they evolved together. However, if you go back thru the development of the species and beyond to the earliest life forms you will find that the organism came first. As fish and reptiles (and later birds) developed from earlier life forms, the ability to house an egg growing inside the body developed as a reproductive strategy for survival. Not all life evolved this egg producing capacity and in some it developed beyond the egg to the housing of the new life form in a womb (mamals) and the bearing of live young. Some questions are not just black and white.

There is no "logic" in your question. Go ask a philosopher, not a scientist.
Philosophically (with a science twist): Eggs. Eggs have been around since eons before the dinosaurs, but not chickens. Chickens came much later on an evolutionary time scale.

The egg. Eggs where around way before chickens.
I am assuming that you are not asking a philisopical or religious question, so evolutionarily speaking, if you are specifically talking about chicken eggs the answer is still the egg.
Before chickens evolved (and were bred), into modern day chickens, they were laying eggs.

The egg,
the egg was the product of another creature similar to the chicken due to adaption it became the chicken. At a cellular level the egg also because blood cells would have been required to make the chicken.

That has to be one of the most asked questions on Yahoo Answers.
Snore....
I say chicken came first. He fell out of the sky.
Obviously it couldn't have been an egg, since the egg would have broken.

i could might desire to declare it extremely is the egg. The "first chicken" might have hatched from an egg that replaced into lain via some component that wasn't an entire-fledged chicken. besides the reality that, evolution isn't precisely that decrease-and-dried... The parent of the 1st chicken might have been some component VERY on the sting of a chicken, in basic terms now not fairly the comparable. It wasn't like a lizard laid an egg and out popped a chicken. Creationists might desire to declare it replaced into the chicken; that God mentioned "enable there be chickens upon the face of the earth, that guy might fry them and make nuggets from their flesh." And lo, there replaced into an outstanding clucking, and the fields have been coated with an outstanding multitude of chickens. And the Colonel mentioned it that it replaced into solid - and unfold out KFC. i think of that even in a creation scenario, evolution is in basic terms the mechanism via which God's creation replaced into performed, so even in a created universe, i think of the egg have been given here first. The Bible isn't a "how god did it" preparation manual, persons.
