Biggest is a tricky question--I'd have to know what you mean by 'biggest'. I'd go with Antares -- Red Giants would have the largest volume of any star. If our sun were a red giant, it would be bigger than the earth's orbit.

A black hole is a dead star. When stars die (run out of hydrogen to continue the nuclear reaction that gives off energy), they do one of three things, turn into a dwarf (basically fade away), supernova (explode), or black hole. The largest stars become black holes when they die.

What happens is that gravity keeps pulling the star particles together, now that there is no energy pushing it apart because the star is dead. The strength of something's gravitational pull is related to its mass, or size. If enough mass gets pulled into a small enough area, the way it collapses on itself makes the gravity so powerful that nothing, not even light, can escape its pull.

If this interests you, look up 'star life cycle'--there are a lot of popular articles that will explain this in greater detail.

The most massive star currently known is really a tie. The Pistol Star and LBV 1806-20 are both thought be weigh in at between 150 and 200 solar masses. However, there is some speculation that LBV 1806-20 is a double star.
Black holes are what are left after a massive star (one that started out at over 8 solar masses) has exploded and the intense pressure of the explosion collapsed the remaining star into what is known as a black hole.
There is a lot of science behind black holes, so you need to do some reading of your own on the subject if you want to know more.
