Powerpoint designer is a very tricky position, suresh.
If it clicks then you can earn thousands and lakhs, if it doesn't then you will not be contained with a minimum pay.
My firend's cousin is working for Sify, chennai as a Powerpoint designer, her salary is around 18 k (1+ yrs experience) which is equal to software programmers. I had also tried with many companies for these projects. But, it was hard luck for me.
So, as far as opportunities are concerned - its depends man. You need to have some contact personally with the company and also you need a bit of luck.

try getting training or experience on other presentation design softwares. Try different OS platforms and softwares(you can also learn LATEX typesetting and modify or design the beamer class which is like powerpoint).
You may increase your chances then.
