iqz,

If the task manager fix people posted does work, it will only be temporary. The infection will just disable it again. It's not hard to tell your system is heavily compromised by the symptoms you describe. Most of what people posted here will do little good solving your real problem.

You need to use scanners that have kernel drivers. I don't think people that recommend scanners like Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware understand that. They are certainly popular and were great free scanners a few years back, but they can't handle the infections of today.

You honestly can't post a fix to your problem in one answer here and be certain that your machine is clean and back in proper working order.

I can recommend scanners and special purpose tools that will give me log files so we could find and remove the infections from your machine. If you would like assistance at my forum, post a HijackThis log by following the instructions at this link:

Don't go any further with the malware removal instructions. I would like to look at the HJT log first.

Best regards,

Windsor

P.S. @ borderline: Panda Active Scan is a wonderful scanner with excellent detection, but only removes viruses...NOT spyware, trojans keyloggers or rootkits. Active scan only reports when it finds them, which leaves the user to manually remove it's findings themselves. Your belief that it will fix everything is not accurate.

Go to http://www.mbusbyuk.info/links.html and scroll down the page to free online virus & spyware scans.
Select Panda from the free virus scanners.
When you get to the site, click on Scan My Computer.
When it asks you to select which part of your computer to scan, click on My Computer.
This should fix your problem.
Good Luck.
