Firstly did you replace the cartridge with the name brand lexmark cartridge? If you are using a refilled, re-manufactured or compatible cartridge I guarantee the cartridge is the problem.
If you haven't used the cartridge is over 30 days, that is your problem.
Try running a few print head cleaning (your manual will tell you how to do this) if you see no improvement you only course of action is to replace the cartridge. Hopefully you can return or exchange the cartridge. If not find a place that will return or exchange open cartridges, buy a new one and try it out. If you are still having the same issue with the second cartridge then you have a hardware problem, that being the electronics in the printer are not connecting properly with the cartridge. In that case you need to replace the printer.

Have you tried to realign. When I replace my ink it comes up telling me to realign ink cartridge and that works for me.

make sure u allow the catridge to clip properly then u restart the printer but pls put the cartridge at the right place.

have you removed all the BLUE tape. if so it sounds faulty.
don't touch the copper strip.
