I was curious how long is 16 bars of music in second/minutes time?

That depends entirely on the tempo.

Depends on the tempo (speed) at which the music is played. 16 bars of a slow lullaby would take considerably longer then 16 bars of a high speed rock song. And while a country song would be somewhere in the middle, it can seem to take forever to get to the end....

That is about like asking how long does it take to say 16 words....

It depends on the piece of music. Is it in 4/4 time or cut time? Maybe 6/8 time? It also depends on the types of notes used and how many rests are involved.
