I have basic local digital channels coming from a coaxl cable line thats split from my cable modem. MY TV tuner detects many many channels including HD locals and many other digital free channels. But when i hook it up to VIP622 it finds nothing in every mode I try. My friend has over the air and it works fine. The pricks at customer service said that the DVR wont record locals anyway, which is 100% not true, they have no idea what they are talking about there.

The manual clearly says you can hook up cable or OTA for locals.

Anyway, anybody out there have this working for them?

It quite possible that the manual is wrong.
All HDTVs that have OTA/Cable tuners ask you EXPLICITLY to sellect Antenna OR Cable when you scan for channels.

The Dish has no such option, so I suspect that they only support off-the-air or maybe off-the-air and analog cable.
