There are quite a few different banking institutions in various parts of Mexico -- including banks from countries other than the US and Mexico. For instance, in Torreon, we have Scotiabank, which is actually from Canada.

HSBC has many branches in various parts of Mexico. Banamex (owned by Citibank) also has a significant presence. The Bank of New York has a Mexico City location.

If you have a specific bank name, you can go to their website and generally check for international locations. Some banks may have only one branch in Mexico (generally Mexico City), but if that is the location to which you are traveling, that may be all you need!

Also, if you are merely looking for banks where your ATM card will be accepted, know that many banks here in Mexico belong to the same ATM networks found in the US as well as other countries. You will, of course, want to check out fees and exchange rates BEFORE you use them!

you want to stick with HSBC and Banamex. Banamex is like citibank, as someone already said. they also work well with Bank of America. HSBC is in the US as well...but I don't believe I've ever seen one! However, withdrawling from ATM's is no problem. And Banamex will do a money transfer for you, for about 15 dollars, as long as you provide them with the correct account and routing information. I use Bank of America and Banamex...but I rarely need the bank for anything, I do everything online....transfers and all.

Hello. None of the banks in Mexico, have a branch in the US, however, some of them, are owned by US banks, for example, Banamex is property of citibank.
