Prince is wonderfly soulful though, but many people would not consider him "good" as he doesnt do those flashy guitar licks.
Best metal guitarist is Kerry King, check it out.

Prince is pretty good and I don't think many people realise how talented he is at the guitar, but in terms of sheer axe wielding talent, I think Steve Vai has to take it.
Watch the film Crossroads (NOT the Britney Spears film) it's about a guy who ends up guitar duelling with the devil and Steve Vai plays the devil - fantastic!!

Jimmy Page is still around... somewhere. Steve Vai is still recording and touring. eh... I can go on and on but instead, I'll just say that prince wouldn't make my list of top 50 guitar players.

Prince has some great work on the ol axe but there are so many who are better across the spectrum, especially in jazz, classical, instrumental rock, metal and some obscure south american stuff. the ability of some of these guys is quite simply 'not of this earth'. (sorry Satch).

I'll tell you how good a guitar player His Squeakyness is. I didn't know he even PLAYED guitar. So there!! Everyone else is right.. Vai, Satch, Santana, Clapton, Page etc.. I'll mention the genius that was Frank Zappa, since no-one else has.

He's good but not the best. Give a listen to Robert Fripp. Now's there's a real guitar player.

Prince or whateve he's call at the mo, is a great musician. he's written some classic. he's not the best guitaist around, or the best musician. there are so many people doing things nowdays it's hard to judge. each one to their own.

No, why would he be? There's John Frusciante, Claudio Sanchez, Kirk Hammett, Eddie Van Halen, and so many others that I can't even remember who are so much better.

Prince is a fantastic guitarist,but i wouldn't say he's the best,there's lots i would rate higher.
