this is a difficult question to answer. i believe ALL MEDIA hypes up situations to an extent with is unnecesary. I thought the only news good to watch was "local nightly news" until last week when i saw one of the news men verbally attack the mayor trying to get a reaction or something to attract viewers.. i was disgusted, these news channels will go to any extent to get viewers.. for god sakes my local news is more like Entertainment Tonight rather than a local news.. who cares about Britney Spears when i just want to know the weather and traffic updates..
As for FOXNEWS and CNN.. Fox is more conservative and CNN is more liberal. But most of the information is fact. But the spin they put on the discussions are always there. You have to realize that each network is trying to make a point but numbers and statistics are most likely true.. just dont believe everything you hear.

If I'm interested in a story, I try to verify the facts myself.
The only newspaper that can be trusted is the Guardian (in the UK), because instead of being run by a mogul (such as Rupert Murdoch, who uses his media to his own political agenda), the Guardian is run by an independent panel.
This is particularly noticeable when you look at their clarifications pages. The Sun, the Mail and so on will publish a two line apology somewhere hard to find in the paper if they have made a mistake or lied. The Guardian, however, dedicates a whole pag to clarifying any issue raised by either the public or other sources of information.
As for television reporting, it always reports sensational stories, rather than news that is helpful.
In the North West, Granada news rarely reports on news in Liverpool, usually only Manchester gets a look in. If you only watched Granada reports, you would honestly think Liverpool (and the rest of the North West) didn't exist.
Finally, if you want to read news which checks it's facts, may I direct you towards....

I don't trust the TV media, terrestrial channels one through to five, because they all have a left wing PC agenda. I wouldn't ever read the Guardian, Observer, Independent newspapers, for the same reason. I tend to read the Telegraph and the Daily Mail newspapers, because they seem to be the only credible source of centre ground opinion. To me, it is centre ground, not right of centre, as the above news sources would have you believe.
Having been employed in higher education for quite a long time, I developed a considerable mistrust of the 'left'. They seem to have contempt for the wealth creating sector.

I don't trust the mainstream Western media, nor do I trust the Israeli media. I do trust newspapers in Greek and Afrikaans among others, and some news channels, especially some Internet websites.

My personal opinion is that I have to rely on the BBC for news. Papers seem to tell us what they think will sell papers and deny us of honest opinions and news facts quite regular actually. What amazes me is how front line news can vary from paper to paper - and they get away with it. At the end of the day one has to do their own homework on the 'said item' - and try and piece together with open opinions from sites like this and more obviously.

NO, including here, which wont let me ask/post the below content/question:
What is wrong with these female shcool teachers?
Yesterday on cnn.com there was yet another story of a young 23 year old public school teacher who is accused of having sex with 5 different young boys (I believe around 15). What was once was a unique, shocking story is seemingly becoming much more commonplace, as other stories involving female teachers- most of them pretty good looking- and young boys (as young as 12-13)- vividly show. I would include links, like I tried before, but I am encountering 'problems'. Do a search yourself. At least one instance also had the teacher carrying the young boys baby.
What the Hell is going on here? There is no reason for this. To these women I have a revelation for you: THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF NON-MINOR MEN WILLING TO SCREW YOU! YOU DONT HAVE TO RISK PRISON EVER! I CAN DO THE JOB! I CAN PACK IT IN!
Seriously, what is wrong with these women? Do they want complete control over a little, pre-puberty boy? Are they totaly void of any self esteem? Are they just bonkers?

This is an interesting article that is entitled "Can You Trust The News Media?" It talks about the number of tactics the news media uses to deliver news to society and whether it is credible or not. I learned alot from this article about the news media. I am sure you will too. Enjoy.

i in my opinion discover myself watching a jap channel for data those days: NHK® global™ Newsline™, as rebroadcast contained in america by technique of T?ky? television LLC (TTV). In descending decision afterwards: Fox® information Channel (more suitable positive element on u . s . breaking comments), KCRA-DT (now a Hearst leisure® branch, for California-particular comments). @jenny reliable supplemental answer. ;-) C-SPAN is the perfect at a forte that truly some the networks usually do not even gloss over: The Congress and the topic matters that they face in committee with concerns of the nationwide activity.

I don't trust much of what I read in newspapers. They lie, or they give you half of the story or exaggerate. The Sun, The Mirror, Daily Mail and The Daily Express are total arsewipes.
