Nobody gets happy on welfare, and the Declaration of Independence says we have the unalienable right to pursuit of happiness.
(Did I just use a slur, calling something "unalienable"?)

It is called principles, dude. It is not your responsibility to take care of me. It is mine. I may need help, and you may choose to provide it, but it remains your choice.
Welfare is the government's way of saying you are not responsible or accountable. It tells me I don't have a choice in the matter. Just pay my taxes or face a lien.
By the way, if conservatives quit their jobs, there wouldn't be any welfare anyway. The debt would explode and the country would go bankrupt worse than what was seen in the depression.

It would be against the core conservative value of personal responsibility. We don't mind people using welfare when they are down on their luck. Everyone needs a hand up every now and then. We don't like people abusing the system and making a living off of welfare and other government entitlements (Social Security is a little different, seniors have worked hard to create and maintain our society and it should be time for them to rest and enjoy their life).
Example: If you lost your job and need welfare to feed your family while you look for another job, no problem. If that "job search" lasts five years, then that is a problem.

Who says that they don't take welfare? What do you call the millions of dollars in tax breaks that the oil industry got during a time of record profits?

I say let them not pay taxes, we will just send them monthly payments for police, training for police, fire, water for fire, roads, traffic lights, traffic light electricity, military protection without all of us throwing in, higher food prices without subsidizes. I could go on and on but the mail bill would be outrageous with all these monthly payments coming in.
