There are web versions of many different messengers. They usually aren't quite as good as the downloadable version. If you go to yahoo's messenger page (http://messenger.yahoo.com), go to the bottom of the page and click 'Launch Web Messenger' you can see what Yahoo's looks like. AOL has AIM Express (http://aimexpress.aim.com), which also doesn't require any downloading.

If you are in games and playing another person, you can communicate with them without using messenger, that is about the only way of doing it.

what Instant Messenger are we talking about yahoo /// msn ??
if it is msn then download the messager if yahoo download yahoo messager then you can chat

any one with xp, has windows messenger, its an older version of msn messenger, comes with windows. i use it.
