They tell each other, say it loudly but not directed at me, or they go 'your so sweet...' both at work and outside. what does 'sweet' actually mean?

It really depends on who says it. As a lot of people answered, it sometimes means that you're a great guy, but they wouldn't date you. But some women like to go out with "sweet" or "nice" guys, so...well, you never know!

It only means they don't consider you as threatening in anyway if you know what I mean. Maybe you need to be more assertive in dealing with the opposite sex. I would be offended if a woman calls me sweet.

They feel unthreatened by you and think you are a nice person. Dont be a "bad boy" to get a woman, you will do fine as the sweet guy.

It could have many meanings, try: your effiminate, or they like you, or they like you but they are not interested, or they are interested!! It could be just your ego at work, maybe your are nerd not a stud. I am sure there are many other reasons, but the best way to find out is to ask them, if you have the courage, which I am sure you don,t.
