It is from overuse, exercise, injury? Different essential oils will be used in different cases. Muscle cramps can be treated with the following used in a massage. Yarrow, Roman Chamomile, Lavender, Juniper, Birch, Black Pepper, Rosemary, Sage Dalmation, Clary Sage, Tarragon, Ambrette, Tangerine, and Cypress. These are anti-spasmodic and can be used as well; Eucalyptus Citriodora, WIntergreen, Thyme linalool, Basil, Lavender spike, Ravensare. These can all be used in massage with most any base oil or in a bath.

Muscle cramps are usually caused by imbalances in your electrolytes, those minerals that regulate your heart and muscles. If muscle cramp or ache is caused by over-exertion of it then try rubbing alcohol.
Essential oils are toxic and can be deadly if not heavily diluted to a non-toxic concentration.

Make sure you're getting adequate potassium, if not you will get leg cramps. Also, magnesium and vitamin E are good for taking if you suffer frequently.
Good luck,
Tori
