Anybody ever use stuff like "NetDective" or any others, That actually work?

Would love to find an old friend without having to spend BIG bucks on internet "Netdective" type sites. Any advise?

Don't waste your time/money on that particular site -
Been there, done that - had to threaten to sue them to stop charging my credit card!!! month after month - and STILL never 'found' anyone I was looking for - moving right along -
