I only need to pull it about 15 to 20 miles for an out of state friend coming down to visit and pick-up the trailer. Friend has 2" ball on his car - so he doesn't need to buy one. I don't need the ball, all my trailers are 1 7/8 Can I pull it that short distance or will I have problems? Thankyou

Sure you can pull it.
But how much value do you place on getting the trailer and its contents to its destination intact?
You'll simply have a higher level of risk involved.

Don't do it. If you ever see the damage a disconneted trailer can cause you will see it's not worth the risk. You can get a 2" ball pretty cheaply at Walmart.
