One swimmer is all it takes...One sperm + one egg = one baby.
And to the user who thumbed-down all answers that said it only takes one...why are you trying to spread falsehood or misinformation on here that it would take MORE than one??? The very instant ONE sperm penetrates an egg the egg closes itself for business, story over, pregnancy occured.

Conventional wisdom is that it "only takes one." While this is a good warning for folks thinking about or using the withdrawl method of contraception, it's not strictly true.
Only 1 sperm normally penetrates the egg, but many other sperm have been at work weakening the outer wall of the egg so that 1 can break through. W/o all the other sperm, that 1 would NOT likely get through to fertilize. So, in fertilization as in life, it takes a village!
If a man is suspected of having a low sperm count, there are many ways he can build it up. Vitamins (especially Vit C, Vit E, selenium, etc). A man trying to conceive should avoid overly hot showers, saunas, and hottubs. He should wear loose fitting briefs or boxers. The couple can also have sex EVERY OTHER DAY during the woman's fertile phase, trying to time it so to have intercourse on the Peak Day (last day of more fertile quality cervical fluid before a drying pattern begins).
I highly recommend charting a woman chart her fertility signs. Her chart can tell her when she is fertile, when she is not, when she is ovulating, when to expect the next period, and when to suspect pregnancy. The chart can also tell her if there are issues delaying conception or causing difficulty w/ carrying a pregnancy and if there are serious issues which need a doc's attention.
Some good sources for charting fertility signs: Fertilityfriend.com (free software as well as a pay-for version and on-line charting turorial); ovusoft.com (discussion boards for many fertility related issues, much info on fertility after the pill, and a very good software for purchase). The books Taking Charge of Your Fertility (associated w/ the the ovusoft website and software), The Art of Natural Family Planning, and Garden of Fertility

There are any where from 40 to 600 million sperm cells in each ejaculation, this includes precum, and the stragglers who exit after climax.
It takes one of those cells to get a woman pregnant.

Going by your questions, you are one hell of a misinformed guy.
It takes just one sperm to form a zygote under normal conditions.

Are you having problems conceiving? Tell wife to consult a obgyn! One of you could have a problem getting pregnant. Also if your partner was on birth control pills and went off it could take up to a year for her hormones to get back in shape!

This one is easy. It only takes ONE. As long as the little swimmers don't have any issues, it only takes one....
