I was going to do something like that to save money but places like next and debenhams are now doing brides dresses and they are allot cheaper. Also ebay is a god send when it comes to weddings.
Good Luck with your wedding

Check around your city for consignment shops. A lot of times they offer them for a really great price to purchase. You can always up them up on consignment after you wear it. Sometimes you would buy it for less than you may be able to rent it.

Also, David's Bridal sometimes has a sale with dresses pretty inexpensive.

Keep in mind if you do rent a dress, if you were to spill something on it or damage it, you may be liable for purchasing it. I would suggest buying one at a great price instead.

Good luck.

you could buy a cheap wedding dress from asda from £60 i have actually seen some of them and they look really nice, or you could look in the news paper, or eBay, or even a charity shop for one.

or you could buy a bridal meg and see what you like and get a dress maker to copy one of the dresses you like best.

if not I'd suggest looking through the yellow pages and ringing up all the bridal shops in your area, i know the rent out bridesmaid dresses at most of them but not sure about the actually wedding dress its self.
