no having a pet is not wrong I think your dad has got confused and doesn't want a cat
When your pregnant you shouldn't change cat litter as it can cause a disease called toxoplsmosis this is dangerous to an unborn child I think this is what he means about it hurting you..
The only other reasons not to have a pet is if you are allergic to them and obviouslly not to have a dog like a great dane if you live in a small flat with out a gardenm as they need lots of space.
having a pet is rewarding as they give you unconditional love and all they require from you is food love and shelter

There's nothing wrong with having a pet at home, millions of people care for pets in their homes and there have been no detrimental effects on them unless there is some form of cruelty.
I also don't see why the pet would want to harm you when you grow up unless you harm it yourself.
By the way what is "prignet" ?

No, your father is lying to you. The only potential danger from a cat is toxoplasmosis which you can only get from handling cat faeces and not washing your hands properly and which can harm a foetus if you are pregnant. There are no pets that will prevent you becoming pregnant. If you are living in his house, then it's up to him whether you have a pet or not, but once you leave home, you get a cat if you like.

'It will harm me' is a bit vague and sounds like a bad argument. if you get cat and have it for a few years and then have a baby, it my start speying (kind of like a dog peeing every couple of lamp-posts to mark its territory). This happenened with my parents cat when i was born.
however, I think it depends on your cats personality (which you wont know until you've got it).
I would avoid getting a pet until you have your own house, because i dont think its fair to move it and it may run away back to your old house, and maybe until you have kids or are really settled.

And you really believe this????? How far out there is your father? That is as big of a myth or lie however you want to look at it, as "a cat will lay on a baby's face because it smells the milk it drinks and smother it". I think you have either a very strange, father which is my first inclination or so protective he will concoct any lie to try and mislead you and keep you naive

Harm you? Why are you allergic? I never heard of something so stupid. Your dad just doesn't want a cat in the house. Wait till your older, and get your cat then. As far as pregnant, that is just another myth!!!....

OMG< I can't believe that BS story is still going around. A cat can't harm a pregnant woman ( I assume thats what "prignet"is). And they don't smother babies either.

If you live with your parents and they don't want a cat, then you can't have a cat. When you grow up and be independant, then you can have as many as you want.

Nope, not at all, all you have to do is train it.
A cat is easy, when its a kitten its quite giddy and jumps around alot, but when its older and a adult its quiet and soft, all they do is lie around all day in there favorite place in the house.
