Rather than somebody who makes decisions based on little voices in his/her head or who pretends to know things about the meaning of life which he/she does not know. I mean, once you lie to yourself about that, you're prepared to lie about anything.

That is like saying wouldn't it be nice to have a dictator or a communist in charge.

Maybe Satan himself would make you happy.

Atheism is an officially recognized religion, so to be honest it would not be any different. If you honestly believe that people with some form of religions standing only hear "voices" and are being simply working out of what is in their head, then it is no different than the atheist save one thing, and that is that at least most major religions have a certain moral code with which to start, atheism is not so based.

The reason that people in government are religious, or feign religion in some cases, is because most people know that the majority of people in America are religious and that religion relates them to the voters. Also religion is one of the major thing that gives people their moral values. So no religion, no values. I'm not saying that this is true with all atheists, this is the perceived truth from most people. Personally I would have to look at a persons voting record, moral compass etc because religion, or lack there of, is only part of a person's make-up. Although being an atheist is a major strike against them.

We have had a lot of presidents who did not have "little voices" in their heads who believed in God so I am not really scared of a man reaching the presidence while believing in God.

It also would not matter to me if the president was an atheist. I don't care either way, I just don't want him to make decisions based on his faith or a lack of faith... I just want him to do his job.

Maybe. It won't happen because most Americans wouldn't trust an Athiest. But the problem is that what happens if being an Atheist makes that person cruel and sinful? I'm not saying all Athiests are bad. A lot of them are smart and nice, but there have been some Athiests that were reckless because they had no fear of going to hell or being tortured forever.

How do you know that atheism is not a lie? It is a religion just like every other, based on the faith (not proof) that God does not exist. Since the existence or non-existence of God cannot be proven, it is a matter of faith, not fact. The same arguments you use against a believer in God are equally valid against an atheist.

I'm tired of people acting as though just because I am liberal, I don't believe in God. I am a Christian, however I don't believe that gives me the right to force my views on other people.

We don't need an atheist in office. We need someone who believes in the Constitution and sepration of church and state.

That is opposed to someone who thinks there is no higher power than himself? That they are as good as it gets.

Frankly I don't care what religion a person is as long as they believe there is a higher power they have to ultimatly have to answer to.

Let an athiest create a universe and I'll vote for him.*LOL*

I think you have already had a number of practicing atheists (I mean people who think and act and talk as if God did not exist; those who say "in their heart" that there is no God).

Yes. To have an athiest as a president would mean that they would spend most of their time focusing on realistic solutions to the problems instead of trying to follow religious obligations and also figure out how to solve those problems soley based on religious belief. They also tend to have beliefs based on FACT, not FAITH.

No, because then 90% of Americans who are Christians woun't be happy. In other words, he won't be trusted.

I won't support a atheist president.
