Limewire itself comes with spyware! My advice is firstly get rid of it. Download avast! free anti virus and do a boot scan once it's installed, it will get rid of the trojans which spread the spyware etc. Secondly, download the trial of super antispyware pro (found on www.download.com) you get 15 days but it will get rid of all the spyware, even the nasty ones and you will probably buy it after the trial it's that good. (There is a free one from lava soft called ad-aware) Thirdly, with avast! you get something called VRDB (virus database recovery). Activate it and then just leave it. It goes through all of your files that have been affected by viruses, cleans them up and repairs them. Right, by this stage your comp should be back to reasonable health. Run checks regularly, and it might be worth getting one or two additional spyware removers just to be safer (I've got spyware doctor, spyware blaster and bullet proof spyware remover. Spyware doctor is a bit of a ram hog so don't have it on real time protection)
Now, anything you download should be checked! With a simple right click once you're hovering over the file, there will be an option to scan the file, and if a virus is found then a box will appear that will give you the right advice on what to do.
The spyware I have didn't attach itself onto the right click menu, but you can scan a particular file in the appications own menu's. Sounds a bit time consuming but it's not, and it might just save your computer in the long run and anyway it just becomes automatic after a while.
Also, get zone alarms free firewall www.zonelabs.com which will also add a bit of extra security. If a file is trying to access the internet or trusted zone and you don't know what it is, then just google it. Follows these simple steps and you should be pretty secure..
Cabos is a good p2p which uses the same networks as limewire, but is spy-ad-malware free. Little bit of a ram hog though but not too bad..

oh god. limewire. *sigh* if you download from limewire you are almost sure to get a virus. your computer is probably totally screwed up now. i suggest deleting limewire as well as the folder where you stored all the files you downloaded. that might not help enough though... maybe use norton or macafee to do a virus check and see if that helps... if you don't already have them though it's gonna cost some money.

I would try to uninstall Limewire and reinstall it. I use that program ALL the time and I have never had that problem. If you still getthe same message after reinstalling you can go to www.norton.com ->downloads and you can get a free trial version of the antivirus. Run that and see if you got any nmasties in your computer.

Something you downloaded may contain a virus.
Go to http://www.mbusbyuk.info/links.html and scroll down the page to free online virus & spyware scans.
Select Panda from the free virus scanners.
When you get to the site, click on Scan My Computer.
When it asks you to select which part of your computer to scan, click on My Computer.
This should fix your problem.
Good Luck.

I use limewire with no problems, you just gotta watch what you download. I guess you are not too bright since u can't distinguish between the crap and the good stuff on there.
