There are 13 essential vitmains. You need them all in your diet for normal, natural cellular function. The fat-soluble vitamins A, E and K seem to result in faster hair growth. If you're loosing hair, it may or may not be related to a nutritional deficiency and it would take several months of regular dietary improvement to notice a change.

If you chose to use a dietary supplement to ensure that you're getting them all always choose a supplement that is made from food. Increasing evidence shows that artificial vitamins are not bio-available. This is because they're simply not "exact copies" of the ones that plants make.

Biotin is a vitamin that helps in hair growth. I have been trying to make my hair grow faster, so I have been taking it (however, it makes all hair on your body grow faster). Try doing a google search about Biotin.
