I have a 2001 Ford Taurus with 85,000 miles on it. It has started to miss, run rough, hiccup or stall (take your pick). This only happens when started and sometimes while driving at low speeds (under 20 mph). Most of the time this happens when the engine is cold. I have changed the fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, air control motor, replaced a cracked vaccum hose, an air hose (air intake assembly) and had the throttle body and injectors cleaned with Seafoam. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

maybe you picked up some water, where you got gas.get some fuel injector cleaner and try that.also does your check engine light come on?if so,then maybe its the idle air control or throttle position sensor.what about the fuel pump, did you run a test on it?maybe its not getting enough pressure or voluum.

I'd be willing to bet it's the Idle Air Control Valve. This valve proportions how much air is let into the engine at idle. It gets gummed up with carbon inside and/or the motor on it gets sluggish. On my car, very similar design, I have to replace these about every 2-3 years. Usually about a $100 in parts and 0.5-1 hour in labor. SOMETIMES you can revive a dying one by removing and soaking with something like seafoam, flushing it out, but many times this doesn't work if its the motor.

First off, is the check engine light on?
Second, which engine do you have? The TB setups are entirely different and it completely changes the way to diagnose a problem like this.
