I was a soldier in the US ARMY and I was sent in with 3 ACR in the begining of the Iraqy war. I honestly belive that the war on terrorism will be a forever fight as long as the taliban and other groups keep getting support from their own and initiating others into their belifesand cause. The US has tried to stop the taliban and Al-Queda by capturing top officials but no matter who you catch and how many you catch there will always be someone to replace them. You must remember that we are fighting a force who has no fear in dieing and thats were they are stronger then us in a way. How do you fight someone who isnt afraid to die? You cant do it any differently than the way its been going. You always hear people say oh lets just blow them to hell and turn them into a parking lot. Well the issue with that is you would not just be killing them but you would be killing inocent people as well. Plus Al-queda and them taliban aren't just there they are everywere. Im glad I could share this answer with you thank you.

conflict breeds "terror", it would not quit it. A "conflict against terrorism" is an impracticable thought if it means struggling with terrorism with terrorism.~John Mortimer we are able to invade actual everyone from Grenada to Afghanistan, yet while anybody spills a drop of our blood, that's terrorism.~Paul Christopher in case you decide directly to call Hezbollah a 17 november, then you definately could desire to call Israel a 17 november.~David Duke you won't be able to win a conflict on Terrorism. that's like having a conflict on jealousy.~David bypass If we enable ourselves to be terrorized with the help of worry of the terrorists, then they have gained.~Salman Rushdie

Pepsicola, what difference does it make if the asker's served their country or not? Simple question: can we win the war on terror?

I think we can win the war on Islamic Terrorism but there will always be extremists out there fighting for other causes so no, we cannot beat all forms of terrorism and/or extremism.

The real question is - can we win the war against "fanatic ideology"? I say yes, with education and evolution - not bullets and bombs. Time goes on, the world gets smaller, people and cultures are mixing faster than ever before (due to travel and internet) and for some it is frightening. As Bullworth said, "It doesn't matter what color we are, as long as we keep f*cking eachother, we're all gonna look the same".

I believe that the "war against terrorism" is only going to get worse. And if we "win" in one area, we will only be faced with it again in another. It's sad to say, but the last days are coming, and wars and rumors of wars are only going to increase in the years ahead. What the question should be is how far is our government going to stretch our resources before they decide enough is enough.

Since Terrorism is merely an ideology - the only way we can change it is not by Killing everyone who has their ideology but to change their minds to a better and more peaceful ideology!

This is where Bush is off on the wrong track!

We should be spending our time, effort, and money showing the world that "Our Way" is better and more beneficial to the people so that they can attempt to follow our paths - and we can not do this by killing them!!!!!!!!!!

Lo Siento!

Sure, but we don't have the resolve. It's not a conventional war and we shouldn't be using conventional tatics. Want to start winnint the war? You have to choke off their supply of funds.

They get there funds from 2 major sources: oil and drugs.

Try to get the populace off of those 2 sources and you will have a chance.
