A pound of feathers would have more mass than a pound of gold.
Why? Because mass != weight, and both have different centers of gravity. Since the center of gravity of a pound of gold would be closer to the ground, the gravitational force acting upon it would be stronger than that acting on the vertical center of the pile of feathers.

That is comparing apples to oranges. Because a pound of feathers only weights 16 ounces, whereas a pound of gold weights 1 pound.

If you speak in standard pounds, the same. But if you are speaking the way that they are usually measured, then the feathers. Feathers would be weighed in normal pounds, ~453.6 grams. Gold would be weighed in troy pounds, ~373.24 grams. Therefore the pound of gold would weigh less.

Don't mind the wrong answers .Most of them don't know gold is weighed using troy weight .Gold lb's are only 12 oz's so a lb of feathers weighs 4 oz's more than a lb of gold. All miners know this answer.

a pound is a pound is a pound....regardless of what is being weighed. As a side note...I wish we would join the rest of the world and switch over to the metric system. How many Americans know how many pints are in a gallon? I bet twice as many could tell you how many milliliters in a liter! America is dumb

Ha Ha, this one has been around for only 527 years now. It's funny every time.
Feathers, of course.
Gold: troy pound is divided up into 12 Troy Ounces = 373 grams.
Feathers: avoirdupois pound is divided up into 16 avoirdupois ounces = 453.59237 grams.

Everyone else is retarded that psoted here. Clearly a pound of feathers is heavier because you have more of them. You use Euler's Weight Equation to derive this:
mass = hyperbolic volume / elliptical density
