It depends on the age of the child. If your child is under nine months of age, you should not give him water at all. Giving an infant water puts him at risk for water intoxication (see links below).

Breastmilk is 88% water, so breastfeeding as often as possible is a great way to get plenty of liquids in a sick infant. Plus, this gives you the opportunity to provide the antibody to the illness the child has through your milk.

If the child is formula-fed, formula is also made up of plenty of water, so there's no need to give any other fluids.

So I would just stick with the breastmilk (or formula).

It depends on baby's age and the illness. If it is vomiting and diarrhea, water or Pedialyte is better. No juice and lay back on the milk and dairy products. If it is a cold and cough w/ congestion I would recommend clear fluids, milk products can thicken mucus. Clear fluids will help to thin the mucus.

please call your Dr back and find out for sure. It all depends on what kind of illness and if there is fraver. Formula or brest milk. Pedalite or gatoraid if the Dr tells you to. and by all means find out how much and how often if it is not formula or brest milk. You dont want a dead baby.

That depends on what kind of sick you mean. If they are vomiting or having diarrhea you may want to suspend the milk for 24 hrs and just give pedialyte. But if you are referring to the common cold, yes feed the baby!

pedialyte is best, milk can cause the stomach to get more upset, with my daughter however when shes sick she wont drink pedialyte, when she was older i tryed watered down poweraid (i hate it i know all teh damn sugar) and she drankl it, its got the electrolyts in it, also milk was about the only thing she would drink so i gavce it to her cuz it was better then nothing, but if he or she is vomiting i wouldnt recommend milk

An infant? NO WATER. Plently of fluids means, breast milk or formula. That is all they need for hydration. If you give an infant water you run the risk of them getting "water intoxication" . Very dangerous. Please do not give your infant water.

depends what kind of illness, if there is any diarhea then only water and watered down gatorade or pedialite. if it's a cold, cut back on the milk (clogs throat). It also depends on the age of the infant, is (s)he on solids yet? if so there is the BRAT diet for the stomach virus and this includes only feeding him/her
BANANNAs
RICE
APPLES
TOAST

Good luck

How old is the infant...if under one year of age I would NOT give water...I would give the baby pedialite, there is NOTHING in pedialite that is harmful to the baby and they can take as much as they will drink...my son loves it!!!

Lots of fluids usually means clear fluids. Get some pedialyte. Avoid dairy products.
