I see now she plans on adopting a child from Vietnam. This is indeed noble and I admire her willingness to do this. However as a parent who has adopted a child, I know there are thousands of children in this country in need. I just suggesting sometime it's better to solve problems at home first.

We just passed the 300 millions inhabitants in the US. I think many of them can adopt the us orphans just as fine. She is a high profile person so the light is on her actions.

But there are thousands of families that keep trying to have babies and pays millions for artificial insemination and use other women to give birth to their childs (surogate mothers), instead of looking at adopting the orphans here. In the name of having their own blood children. I think it's an ugly business driven by greed and immorality. You know how much it costs to adopt a child in here !?!?! The hassle !!! You would think they would make it easy to adopt all these orphans as you say who need a new home. But no, it's the dollars first then we'll talk. You have adopted you know the process, and believe me this country is not yet at the point where they will adopt orphans.

Let me tell you who is orphaned in this country: kids issued from very poor areas, black kids, hispanics, not your high prized Blond Blue Eyed Healthy Looking baby. People are not willing here to adopt an adorable baby issued from a black family or what have you. It's sad, very sad. That's the truth however. Just go and look at how people select the babies they want : white. The rest is left over.

Maybe we ought to point the finger to half this nation and not just an individual.

I can't speak for her, but my husband and I have adopted our children internationally. First, we have to remember that all kids need homes, no matter where they are born. Also, major reason many people adopt internationally is because it's more of a "sure thing", as there isn't the risk of the child being taken from the adoptive family after placement.
Instead of criticising where people adopt from, perhaps we should encourage MORE people to adopt, especially older couples, who are experienced in raising school aged kids and teens, who would be best suited for adopting older kids in foster care.

She is a single mother. That mostly bans her from adopting here. Also most want babies as older children often have psychological problems (My brother and his wife adopted an older boy (8) and he took a claw hammer and began to murder people at age 16). Come to find out he had seen his father murder his mother with an Axe and then shoot himself. This stuff is hidden until something like this happens and you sue. Until there is full disclosure on adoptions in this country, I advise everyone to go elsewhere.

You know I couldn't agree with you more. I don't get it how these celebrities go to other countries to adopt children, when we have many children in need of parents here in the US. You would think they would want to help the kids from their own country but it doesn't seem that way. Now I do admire them for adopting children at all, but I feel they should helps the children in need here in the US because there's plenty of them that need a home.

Good on you for starting to solve a problem exactly where you feel led to begin.
When it comes to something like adoption, logic doesn't necessarily rule the day, and certainly not someone ELSE'S logic.
If she has a heart for adopting children from the East, good on her. If you have a heart for adopting children from the West, good on you.
And good FOR all the kids who are adopted!

I heard she either had an abortion or she gave her child up for adoption (way before she became famous).
Technically, she gave her child up in the US. Maybe she changed her mind now. "Hey, I feel like taking other people's children in. Even though I can't keep my own."

I could not agree with you more, It a shame that she (and so many other americans) has to go outside of this country to help these children when there are so many kids in need here.. but here we really dont or rarely see BABIES in need of adopting here.. its usually older children who have been abandoned, abused or orpahned and she is out baby shopping.. as are MANY of theose in the adoption market!

No she has never adopted a kid who is American. It is a good thing she is rich so she can support all the kids she has. Imagine how many she will have by the time she is 40.......

She has never adopted an American child, and she never will, as that would make too much sense.
I have the same question about why we ( America ) give so much money to other countries when we have so many homeless, hungry people in our own backyard.
When you find the answer to that, you'll have the answer to your question.
