Better than free trials there are free anti virus software available just in-case your like me and a bit cautious about these things. First ans is right too but if want go to downloads.com and check the anti virus software out. What I do is then filter the data to show freeware and highest rated by cnet. You can read the reviews and then download whichever you think is suitable. Usually the highest rated by cnet is what I go for but it might depend on what the individuals needs are as well.
You can also do the same for firewall, I think zonelabs is still the highest rated on there but haven't checked for a while.
Good luck.

There is no need to pay for good protection for your computer. (In the past six months, I have REMOVED Norton from several computers, and installed other software, due to them being infected.)
The programs below are free, and I've been using them for a long time. My computer is on 24/7, on the Internet , and I have no problems with the "bad guys". . . .
AVG 7.5 Free Edition http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/
Cleanup http://www.stevengould.org/software/cleanup/
Spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
(I have donated to this guy, and a few others)
Spywareblaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
If one has AVG, Cleanup, Spybot and Spywareblaster installed, and uses them, it's fair to say you'll have little or no problems with Adware, Spybots, malware in general, Trojans or Viruses.
There are free scans offered by Trend Micro, and Panda. These are done online, and are very good offerings. I usually clean a client's computer, and when I feel I have removed all the garbage, I go to Panda or Trend Micro, and let them have a look. These two online programs take some time to run.
Pcpitstop.com offers a free computer checkup. It's a great tool for more than just spyware/viruses/trojans.
Keep in mind, there is NO program, or set of programs capable of total protection. I also have "Adaware" installed in my computer, which gives me an additional checkup service, kinda like backup protection. I run it too, every couple of weeks.
I work on Computers every day . . . . . .
That's the way I see it, and . . . You're welcome.

SystemWorks is for restoring, optimizing & maybe backup. You don't need it as far as anti-virus & anti-spyware protection; Internet Security takes care of that. If you still want to use SystemWorks instead of running defragmentations & backup on your own, I'd renew. As for upgrading, Symantec only offers Internet Security 2007 & Norton 360. Internet Security doesn't do anything SystemWorks does & Norton 360 seems to do some of what SystemWorks does; not sure if it does everything you need & if you need all its features.

Norton Systemworks does not need to be renewed, Internet Security does. I use Systemworks in case my hard drive crashes, Systemworks restores it. It's not necessary but is easier to repair a crash than calling tech support. As far as Internet Security goes, if you are using a Microsoft operating system check out Live OneCare. It was created by Microsoft for Microsoft and is a great anti spyware, adware and virus protector.

I like Norton Internet Security--it offers a well-rounded suite of applications to keep your computer secure while surfing the Internet. I do not, however, like Systemworks. I think it adds too much overhead for what it does. Many of the tools included in Systemworks are already found built into Windows. So I'd get the NIS, but not the SystemWorks.
One thing I don't like about NIS '07 is that they omitted AntiSpam from the package. They realized that people were upset with its omission, and decided to offer it for free from their website. So if you do buy NIS '07 and want the spam blocker, you'll have to go here to download it:

I wouldn't touch Norton with a barge pole. I used to have Norton on mine and found out it's a real system hog. A friend of mine had a special disc to uninstall it all as it leaves loads of stuff on your system with the normal uninstal option. I could use it for free if I wished as am on BT Total Broadband, but prefer the free ones. I use Sunbelt Kerio personal firewall and Avast antivirus along with Windows Defender and have never had a problem.

Save your money and download either AVG free or AVAST free. They are both better than Norton as they don't slow your computer down like Norton does

Hi,
Please don't renew your subscription for Norton's but Un-install it and then go to AVG and install there free home version this works really well with free updates (I have been using it for months now). This is the best advise anyone will give you.

No i wouldn;t have thought so, if its saying you need to renew it, why not try just downloading another free trial of Norton Antivirus from the google pack available on Google. It gives you longer then to comtemplate whether or not next time to buy both items together or not.
