My friend and I invited my teacher and his wife for a meal.*She studied my course as a minor. She once used to bring her boyfriend(same faculty) along which was fine with me.Since it made the conversation more interesting. But,she decided to bring her new boyfriend along the next time, someone we all don't know.He didn't talk more than 10 sentences and it caused the whole conversation lapsed to professor making fun of me not having boyfriend.I was feeling awful since 3hrs were all about this topic.Am I being petty for being angry at her?

I don't know if I enjoy her companion in the past.We were friends in secondary school,we became closer in Junior college. But it always appeared that there was an invisible piece of glass between us.I don't know if it was because I was jealous of her popularity in junior college or was she keeping me away from arms length. In university, I would always lend her my things or provide help since I was majoring this course.

Is she jealous of me? Or is she trying to show of? Or is she plainly trying to spend more time with her boyfriend? It is possible since I have managed to have job switch and more job offers than her. Plus, I have my reputation in my own faculty.I have no idea her rationale for doing so.

No, I would be upset myself. You invite friends out to have a good time and catch up on things and just to reminisce. It would really hurt my feelings if my friends did that to me. I don't feel that you are being petty. Im sorry your friend did that.

I'd be angry. Why don't you give yourself a couple days to cool off and then talk to her. Often people can be self-centered and not realize the pain they are causing others. It sounds like you've enjoyed this person's company in the past. See if you can share how you are feeling in an effort to salvage a friendship.
