Every time I want to save a game the screen says the slots A and B are empty, but I want to save games via the SD memory card slot in the front. Do I need to connect to the internet? And why isn't it locating the SD card for saving? Thanks

You can't save game data to it directly from the game but you can transfer the memory from your internal memory onto you SD Card.
Just go to Data Management, Wii, and click on your saved memory and copy it into you SD CARD.
