Yes, so it is no good washing them back down the drain of the bath. They can breathe the air bubbles that get trapped in their 'fur' on their legs and body.
Most animals and insects that are big enough to break the surface tension of water can swim if motivated enough.
If you have a spider in the bath or sink, drape a long dangly piece of toilet paper over the edge so it can climb out. They are good to have in your house. Shows your house is low in toxins and they sort out flies and other nastier insects.

yeah, some spiders can swim. Most spiders, though, don't swim as a routine part of life, but some can to survive, (even tarantulas).

impossible... if they break the meniscus of the water they are buggered as they are not strong enough to overcome the syrface tension and it ends up dragging them under the water
